The skin and fat of the lower abdomen are detached from the muscle fascia. The skin is stretched down and excess skin is removed. The belly button is either left in place or repositioned. This procedure is done when there is small amount of abdominal skin to be removed and no significantly protruding abdominal muscle wall.

Medical history- This will include information about any medical conditions you may have such as diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease or hypothyroidism. Your surgeon will want to know about previous surgeries especially surgeries over abdomen, medical treatments and medications that you currently take.

Instructions After Surgery
A small drainage tube will be used to draw off accumulating fluid after surgery. The drains are usually removed in a weeks’ time after the surgery.
For the first few days after your tummy tuck surgery, your abdomen will be a little swollen and tender. You might also experience a little pain and numbness. This is all fairly routine, usually quite minor and short-term, and can be managed with medication.
It’s also possible that, immediately after the surgery, you may have a little difficulty standing up straight as your body adjusts to the changes. Still, you should try to move about gently as soon as the nurses and doctors say it’s okay as getting up and moving around can help you reduce the risk of blood clots.

You should walk with your body a little bit bend to avoid stretching the wound, then try to straighten your body as you can to avoid painful back and waist.
Normally, you can expect to return to your typical routine after two to four weeks, and you should avoid heavy lifting and other strenuous activities for a few more weeks afterward in order to make sure you give your newly-tightened stomach muscles plenty of time to heal.
